9. Seat Allotment Process

How Seat Allotment Works
Merit-Based Allotment

Seats are allotted purely on the basis of NEET UG rank, category, and choice preferences filled by candidates. Higher the rank, better the chances of getting preferred college.

Multiple Rounds

Jammu and Kashmir conducts multiple rounds of counselling (typically 3-4 rounds). Each round includes fresh registration, choice filling, and seat allotment for vacant seats.

Upgradation Option

Candidates can opt for upgradation in subsequent rounds. If you get a better college in the next round, your previous seat will be automatically cancelled. Choose "Betterment" option during choice filling.

Seat Acceptance

Once allotted a seat, candidates must report to college within specified time, pay fees, and complete admission. Failure to report will result in forfeiture of seat and security deposit.

Mop-up Round

Final mop-up round is conducted for remaining vacant seats. This is open to candidates who didn't get seats in previous rounds or who want to upgrade.

Pro Tip: Fill maximum number of choices in order of preference. Even if your top choices seem unrealistic, include them. The system will auto-allot the best possible college based on your rank.
